Smoothie Box Review: My Favorite Organic Smoothie Subscription
(updated April 2022)
Was there life before smoothies?
Smoothies weren’t a thing when I was growing up, but now I can hardly imagine a week without at least one smoothie in my breakfast rotation.
For many years, I was winging it – creating my own smoothie out of frozen fruit and veggies – but the downside is that I don’t always have what I need to make a healthy smoothie on the fly.
A few years ago, I was introduced to Smoothie Box and I was quickly SOLD on the convenience of having a nutritionally sound smoothie mix ready in the freezer at all times!
To let you in on the secret, I decided to do a quick Smoothie Box review:

What Makes Smoothie Box Unique?
The thing that is most unique about SmoothieBox is that the ingredients include more than fruit. SmoothieBox smoothies are a unique mix of organic fruits, vegetables, seeds and other nutritious and flavorful ingredients. You’ll find nutrient rich ingredients like hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, cocoa powder, ginger and more. Unlike most commercial smoothies, Smoothie Box smoothies have no added sugar or any artificial sweeteners or other artificial ingredients. All smoothie mix ingredients are organic with the exception of mandarin oranges (due to a sourcing issue). The smoothie mix is gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free. If you like a touch of sweetness, a squirt of honey or allulose goes a long way.Nutrition Information
SmoothieBox smoothie pouches have a very good nutritional profile. A whole pouch is technically two servings, but I almost always drink the entire thing myself – unless I’m in the mood for sharing. 🙂 I think if you are using the smoothie as a meal replacement, you can use the whole pouch, but if you are looking for a small snack during the day, then half of the pouch would be the perfect size. The nutrition facts for a full pouch (before adding liquids or boosters) ranges as follows:- Calories: 160 – 260
- Protein: 4 – 10 grams
- Fat: 5 – 14 grams
- Sugar (zero added sugar): 14 – 22 grams
- Carbs: 24 – 36 grams
- Fiber: 6 – 8 grams
Smoothie Box Flavors
The Smoothie Box subscription model is pretty simple – they have five smoothie flavors to choose from.
