Learn how to switch to refillable cleaning products so you can stop buying so many single-use plastic bottles and create a more sustainable home.
For someone who has been making an effort to be kinder to the planet for many years, I realize that I have major room for improvement in one key area: the number of plastic bottles I bring into my home.
Many of those plastic containers are for the green cleaning brands – the cleaning sprays, dishwashing soaps and hand washing soaps- that we use on the regular.
This year I’m making a commitment to reducing waste by making the switch to refillable cleaning products instead of buying new plastic packaging every time.

At first glance, switching to refillable cleaning products doesn’t seem challenging, but a big part of it is the habit change. As a creature of habit I’m used to buying the same cleaning products over and over – whether I’m tossing it in my shopping cart at Target, or my virtual cart at Thrive Market. Hence the pile-up of plastic bottles in the recycling bin.
