• Squalane: Derived from green olives, squalane draws moisture into the skin and visibly restores elasticity. (found in the Countermatch line)
• Plum Oil: Rich in omega 6, omega 9 and vitamin E, plum oil helps provide nutrients for vibrant, healthy-looking skin. (found in the Countermatch line)
• Hyaluronic Acid: Has the unique ability to deliver moisture to skin without clogging pores. (found in the Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream)
• Phytic Acid: Sourced from rice, phytic acid is an antioxidant that gently exfoliates to help skin breathe and develop a natural glow. (found in the Countermatch line)
• Retinatural Complex: A plant-derived mixture of Bakuchiol and Swiss Alpine rose that provides a safer alternative to retinol. Bakuchiol delivers many of retinol’s skin benefits without the potential irritation and sun sensitivity. Bakuchiol has an EWG Skin Deep rating of 1 vs. a score of 9 for retinol. A note about fragrances: Beautycounter products do not contain any artificial fragrances. The light scents that you will find in Beautycounter facial moisturizers come from essential oils and other active ingredients used in formulas.

A note about phenoxyethanol: Phenoxyethanol is a preservative often used in clean beauty products as a safer alternative to paraben preservatives. It helps prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast and mold and works to extend the shelf life of products. Although there have been a couple of small studies showing some potential for irritation or allergies from this preservative, phenoxyethanol is still considered to be one of the safest preservatives when used at the low concentrations (less than 1%) in cosmetics and personal care products. That said, if you have sensitive skin you may want to do a patch test to check for a reaction.
