Rarely do I find a skincare brand that ticks off all the boxes for me – clean ingredients, sustainable packaging AND incredible performance. OSEA is one of those brands!
OSEA is a clean skincare brand inspired by the power of the sea. In fact, seaweed is the hero ingredient used in many of their products.
Since I’m such a superfan, I thought it would be fun to do a little OSEA review, so you could get to know the brand and their products!

Why I Love OSEA Skincare
First, a little background….OSEA is a family run business based in Malibu, California. The company was founded in 1996 by Jenefer Palmer after she worked for a wellness spa and struggled to find clean skincare products. She named the company OSEA for its connection to Ocean, Sun, Earth and Atmosphere.
Some of the impressive aspects of OSEA include:
- a commitment to clean, natural ingredients
- a commitment to sustainable packaging (most products are in glass bottles)
- all products are vegan certified by PETA
- all products are cruelty free certified by Leaping Bunny International
- the company is Climate Neutral Certified
- the first company to sign the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics
- continuous advocacy for better beauty laws
The quality of OSEA products is extremely high – with super creamy, rich and potent formulations. It is clear that every product is thoughtfully designed and only introduced when it has been perfected!
The only downside of OSEA is the price – their products are a bit on the higher end, although still very reasonably priced and totally worth it in my opinion. And the good news is that they offer trial sizes of many products, so you don’t have to commit to a full size right away.
Is OSEA Non Toxic?
If you are concerned about the ingredients in your skincare products, you can rest assured that OSEA products are non toxic and safe to use!
Not only that, OSEA chooses ingredients that are naturally-derived, are scientifically formulated and are chosen for their safety and efficacy.
OSEA’s signature ingredients is seaweed! Seaweed is a superfood that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients and helps to replenish the skin’s moisture barrier and add amino acids and antioxidants to the skin.
OSEA uses a variety of types of seaweed in its products including Undaria algae, Japanese miru seaweed, red seaweed and brown seaweed.
The only ingredient that some people question is phenoxyethanol. Phenoxyethanol is used as a preservative and is considered safe when used up to 1% concentration and is not recommended for use on infants.
I asked OSEA specifically about their use of phenoxyethanol and here is their reply: “Phenoxyethanol has a proven track record as a safe and effective preservative up to 1%. OSEA uses phenoxyethanol in formulas where from a formulation perspective, it is the best preservative for that formula due to its overall composition (works best with all the other ingredients). OSEA follows all US and international usage safety guidelines and limits that pertain to phenoxyethanol.”

Now for the fun part – to tell you about my favorite OSEA skincare products! This brand has a LOT of products and I have tried many of them but not all of them, by a long shot.

Here are the OSEA products I use and recommend the most:
Ocean Cleanser – This is the first product OSEA product I ever tried and I was immediately hooked! It is a creamy, gel cleanser that is infused with minerals from seaweed.
Hyaluronic Sea Serum – I wish I could gift this serum to every one of you – I love it that much! It’s a fast absorbing, gel-based serum made with two molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, seaweed and snow mushroom. Layer it underneath your moisturizer or facial oil to help keep skin hydrated all day long!
Seaglow Overnight Serum – This serum works its magic while you sleep – how can you not love that?!! A blend of AHAs, phytic acid and tropical fruit extracts work together to exfoliate and improve skin texture overnight.
Ocean Eyes – One of the most unique eye care products I’ve tried! A hydrating gel serum made with seaweed, hyaluronic acid and peptides is delivered with a cooling roller ball applicator which makes your eyes look and feel so refreshed.
Atmosphere Protection Cream – This day cream does more than just moisturize – it helps protect your skin barrier from environmental pollutants with its antioxidant-rich formula. I use it under my daily sunscreen.
Advanced Protection Cream – My mature skin needs extra nourishment at night and this cream delivers! It uses a plant-derived amino acid called DPHP to plump skin and reduce fine lines.
Dayglow Face Oil – I like to switch things up between creams and oils and OSEA’s seaweed-infused face oil is a great one! Layer a serum on first and the face oil on top for the perfect hydration combo!
FYI – OSEA has a very popular blemish care line too. I just don’t happen to need that type of product right now, so I haven’t tried them.
Best OSEA Body Care Products
OSEA is more than just facial care – they have amazing bath and body care products too! Here are the products I recommend you try first:
Ocean Lotion – This is the perfect body lotion in my opinion. It’s rich but weightless at the same time. It feels silky going on but absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling well moisturized.
Undaria Algae Body Butter – Oooooh – this body butter is amazing! The rich, butter-like formula is made with Undaria seaweed, whipped shea butter and ceramides and it literally melts into your skin (plus it’s clinically proven to hydrate for 72 hours).
Undaria Algae Body Oil – If you are a body oil gal, you will want to try this one! Nourishing oils are infused with vitamin-rich Undaria seaweed and scented with uplifting grapefruit, lime, cypress and mango mandarin essential oils. It’s heavenly!
Salts of the Earth Body Scrub – Say goodbye to rough skin with this gentle salt-based exfoliant. Nourishing oils and shea butter leave your skin feeling oh-so-soft and smooth!
Vagus Nerve Oil – I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know what the vagus nerve was when I first tried this oil (hint: it’s part of the parasympathetic nervous system that oversees mood and relaxation.) But once I massaged the oil into the sides of my neck, and breathed in the calming essential oil fragrance, I knew that this was a game-changing relaxation ritual.
