What are Fizzy Bath Bombs?

Fizzy Bath Bombs are mixture of bath salts, oils and other natural ingredients that start to fizz when you drop them in water. For a child, a bath bomb is simply a fun fizzy bath toy but grown-ups appreciate that they add soothing Epsom salts, moisturizing oils and therapeutic essential oils to the bath water! My favorite essential oils for bath bombs are sweet orange or a lavender/sandalwood combination – but you can use whatever combination you like! Bath bombs make great homemade gifts  – so definitely make some extra!

How to Make Fizzy Bath Bombs

Ingredients:

1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup cornstarch 1/2 cup citric acid 1/8 cup Epsom salts 1 tablespoon water 2 1/2 tablespoons skincare oil (sweet almond, grapeseed or jojoba) 10 – 20 drops (1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon) essential oil 3-4 drops natural food coloring (optional) Directions: Mix baking soda, cornstarch, citric acid and Epsom salts together in a glass bowl. Mix water, oil and essential oil (and food color if using) together in a small jar and shake well. Slowly drizzle wet ingredients over dry ingredients, mixing constantly. A slight fizzy reaction will happen but that’s OK. The mixture will be crumbly but packable. Press mixture together into 1 to 2 inch balls. This can be done free-form or using a bath bomb mold. I actually used a lime squeezer as a mold, so the balls looked more like a scoop of ice cream than a ball. This recipe will make 6-10 pieces, depending on the size of the balls you make. Leave bath balls to dry for 6 hours or overnight.   Drop one in the bath and enjoy your luxurious fizzy bath experience!       P.S. 5. This sounds yummy and fun. Did Liam enjoy it? I am thinking of asking parents to bring their own supplies if they have it..and of course offer some and let the kids and parents make their own. Wish me luck : )

  6. Thanks so much for the recipe — I have bought these from Lush for way too much $$ and would love to give my kids access to them again for little $ (plus my 4 year old will love to help make them).
