There were times when I never thought the day would come but it is finally here… My book, Practically Green: Your Guide to Ecofriendly Decision-Making is starting to ship! And 3 weeks early, no less!! When my aunt emailed me this weekend to say that her copy of the book had arrived from Amazon I was in complete shock. Apparently the books were on the fast boat from China. Hey, I’m not complaining, I’m just surprised!
In a nutshell, the book is a guide to eco-friendly decision making for daily life. Each chapter has a BUY IT GREEN and a DO IT GREEN section. The Buy It Green part covers all the small decisions you make on a daily basis, like what to eat, what to wear, what products to buy for your home. One of the nice things is that it has a bunch of copy & clip guides that you can bring with you when you go shopping to make decision-making on the fly a little bit easier. But it’s much more than a buying guide. In fact, there is a whole chapter dedicated to conserving…with tips on recycling, composting and saving energy as well has buying used and buying LESS.
The book also has a DIY twist to it. The Do It Green section of each chapter has projects and ideas for eco-friendly things you can make yourself…like non-toxic cleaning products, safe and affordable beauty products and eco-friendly household items and crafts.
My goal was to be inspiring, not intimidating! The style is non-prescriptive…it’s informative without being judgmental…and even a bit irreverent. Like when I share my Adventures in Living Green…where things don’t always go as planned and I don’t always make the best eco-minded decisions. I like to say that the book covers green living from the homefront…served up with a healthy dose of reality.
I’m a bit caught off guard with the book shipping early, but I’ve got some promotional events in the works…like book signings and even a Facebook party! Keep in the loop by becoming a fan of my brand spankin’ new Practically Green Facebook page! I’ll be posting event details soon!
