The first snow of the season arrived a few days ago. I have to admit I was a bit crabby at the sight of it. Not that I didn’t appreciate the beauty of the bright, white snow glistening on top of the cheerful, Fall leaves. The transition from Fall to Winter is always hard for me. Is it hard for you too? In Minnesota we only go about 6 months between the last snow of the Spring to the first snow of the next Winter. I’m just not ready for it to begin.
Time to order holiday cards
To cheer me up, I’m thinking about the holidays! First step is to get my holiday cards ordered. I’m using Pear Tree Greetings for photo cards this year. I love that Pear Tree Greetings cards are printed on premium card stock made from 100% post consumer recycled paper. It makes me feel a bit less guilty about sending paper cards. Digital holiday cards just don’t cut it for me – I like something that I can keep in a basket and look at over and over again. At the end of the season, I save my favorite cards in a photo album (if I have the time) or a box of memories from the year.
The hardest part about holiday cards is getting the photos ready. Some years we take a family photo and other years I do a collage of photos from throughout the year. At this point, I have no idea what I’ll be doing for this year’s holiday card – aaaaak! I need to get on that. I’m inspired to do a family photo shoot ala Teal and Lime but I know for a fact I could never pull off something that organized and awesome.
What’s your favorite?
The fun part is choosing a card design. Pear Tree Greetings does such a great job with design – and most of them are customizable – as in changing the colors, fonts and sometimes even placement of text. Choose from holiday photo cards, Christmas cards or if you are on a budget you might like this list of affordable holiday cards. Here are a few of my favorites. What are yours?
