Found this photo from last year’s BlogHer conference and it made me laugh out loud! It’s hard to believe it’s been a year but it’s BlogHer time again! I’ll be heading to Chicago Thursday morning for my 5th BlogHer experience. For those who don’t know, BlogHer is the largest blogging conference in the country – and probably on the planet. It’s primarily female (although some lucky/crazy men come too), hence the Her part of the name. Why do I go to BlogHer? Mainly to hang out with my green blogging peeps but also to learn some new tricks, be totally inspired by amazing women and have a boat-load of fun!
I wouldn’t go to BlogHer year after year, if it wasn’t for my generous sponsors who help make it possible. As I mentioned the other day, one of my sponsors is Better Life cleaning products and we’ve got a fun Tweet to Win contest going on so be sure to enter it if you are on Twitter!
My other sponsor is Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families. SCHF is a non-profit coalition, with the goal of getting more robust, Federal chemical laws passed in the United States. So we won’t have to worry about toxic chemicals in the products we use every day – imagine that!! I’ve done a lot of work for Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families over the years (including lobbying in Washington, DC) and am looking forward to collaborating with them in Chicago on ways to get the word out about the good work they are doing – and to get the Safe Chemicals Act passed!
I’ll also be meeting up with Annie from MightyNest – one of my long-time advertisers and a wonderful company to partner with!
As always, there are lots of parties at BlogHer. The problem is deciding which ones to attend! I’ll be kicking things off by co-hosting a Blogger Meet-Up for green and health-focused bloggers at the Hotel Allegro. Healthy Child Healthy World and Safer Chemicals Healthy Families are the event sponsors and I am co-hosting along with….drumroll…..actress Mariel Hemingway as well as Catherine McCord from Weelicious.com, Lori from Groovy Green Livin and Victoria Di lorio from Healthy Home Initiative. WOW!
I’ll be doing yoga in Millennium Park on Friday morning (7:00 am!) After that, I’ll head to breakfast with Stonyfield Organic with speakers Amelia from Eating Made Easy and Emily from Organic Valley/Zweber Family Farm. Later I’ll be getting together with the smart ladies from Moms Clean Air Force for some cocktails. There’s also the EcoFab50 party where I’ll get to meet a bunch of new people and learn about more green & healthy products to share with you. And of course there are all the BlogHer sponsored parties and the Expo Hall to visit.
On Saturday night, I’ll be catching a movie. I know, a movie during BlogHer? I hardly ever go to movies at home so I jumped at the chance to see the premier of Delivery Man with Vince Vaughn. By then I will be exhausted so a movie will be just my speed.
Going to a conference with a bunch of girls is a great excuse to dress up! Especially since I work from home and pretty much live in jeans and t-shirts. So I hit up my local consignment shops for a couple of fun new things to wear. I also got some hip new jewelry made out of recycled plastic from one of the brands I work with – Color by Amber.
Will you be at BlogHer? Let me know if you are – I’d love to meet up!
