Maple Vanilla Frozen Yogurt with YayLabs! Ice Cream Ball

Summertime. When I think back on my childhood, summer seemed like an endless string of perfect days, fun friends, special vacations and cool things to do. One of my favorite parts of being a parent is helping to create those magical summer memories for my kids. I always wonder which things they will remember specifically and which ones will fade into the general pool of childhood memories. Either way, it’s special for me!

We had some memory-making fun last week with the new ice cream ball we got from YayLabs! through my partnership with Stonyfield. My boys were super excited to make frozen yogurt by rolling a ball around in the grass – I mean how cool is that?

Make It

The ball has two openings – one side for ice and rock salt (found in the salt section of most grocery stores – typically on the bottom shelf).

The other opening is for the ingredients. We used 1 pint of Stonyfield Whole Milk French Vanilla Yogurt and 1/2 cup of our Uncle Bill’s homemade maple syrup. That’s it!

The boys and I rolled the ball around in the grass for about 10 minutes, playing a silly “What’s your favorite” game the whole time.  Then we opened up the ball, scraped down the sides and added a bit more ice and rock salt. After that, we enjoyed another 10 minute rolling/game playing session.

All our “hard work” paid off and we gobbled up some delicious Maple Vanilla Frozen Yogurt! Will the boys remember this day forever? I kind of doubt it. But I have no doubt it will become part of their tapestry of great summer memories – and that’s what counts!

Stonyfield Maple Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

A couple of tips:

  • Do not overfill the ingredients container – leave a bit of room for the mixture to expand as it freezes.
  • When filled, the ball is heavy and not meant to be dropped or thrown.
  • Be sure to wash off the ball before opening it up – especially after rolling in the grass!
  • Scraping the sides of the container is the hardest part. They do not recommend metal as it scratches the container. I found a thin wooden spatula worked best for me.
