The Best of BlogHer

BlogHer 2013 Chicago

Remind me next year not to leave for vacation right after I get back from BlogHer!! I had so much fun at my annual blogging conference but then had no time at all to write about it. Now I’m finally home and my boys are off in Wisconsin watching the Green Bay Packers (yes, it’s football season already!), so I’ve got a few minutes to tell you about my trip.

As usual, the true highlight of the trip was hanging with my green blogging peeps. My roomie Lori from Groovy Green Livin and I were pretty much joined at the hip – attending most of the same events. We started out with a summit of sorts hosted by Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, talking about gearing up our activism efforts to get better chemical legislation passed. Check out our power team:

Next we headed over to the gorgeous Hotel Allegro for a blogger networking event with Healthy Child Healthy World. Lori and I were co-hosts along with actress and environmental activist Mariel Hemingway!

What a treat to have all these amazing bloggers and activists in one place!

Call me crazy but I got up super early the next morning to do yoga in Millennium Park. How could I resist?

Next it was off to breakfast at Nana with Stonyfield Organic where we gorged ourselves on incredible, organic food while learning about organic farming and the connection between genetics and environment and how it relates to pesticides exposure. Love this group shot of the Yo-Getters team!

Later that evening we landed at the EcoFab50 party. In case you were wondering, it is possible to throw a rockin party at a yoga studio with no alcohol! Check out Lori, Kathy (Safe Mama) and myself sporting our Better Life cleaning products t-shirts!

Just to top if off, I had the chance to meet Sheryl Sandberg – COO of Facebook and author of the best-selling book Lean In. I was truly inspired by her message that women can create opportunities for themselves and achieve their goals and that this doesn’t have to be a “man’s world”. There is so much we need to do to get women on equal footing in this country and I’m grateful that she is encouraging this conversation.

After the conference, I had a day to wander around Chicago and of course I had to visit The Bean! Can you see me?

A super-huge thank you to my BlogHer sponsors: Safer Chemicals Healthy Families, Better Life and MightyNest who helped make this trip possible!

BlogHer Bound!

BlogHer Bound

Found this photo from last year's BlogHer conference and it made me laugh out loud! It's hard to believe it's been a year but it's BlogHer time again! I'll be heading to Chicago Thursday morning for my 5th BlogHer experience. For those who don't know, BlogHer is the largest blogging conference in the country - and probably on the planet. … [Continue reading]

Better Life and BlogHer (chance to win!)

Better Life and BlogHer

Lookie what I found at my local Crate&Barrel the other day: a big display of Better Life cleaning products! I was so excited to see this small, independently owned brand at one of my favorite retail stores (bet you didn't know - I used to work for Crate&Barrel back in the day) and featured in their catalog too! BlogHer … [Continue reading]

Toothpaste, Muesli and More!

Brushing Teeth, Muesli and More!

The Toothpaste Dilemma Watermelon. That's the only flavor of toothpaste my 8 year old will use. And it has to be the green stuff. Artificially colored and flavored no doubt. He hates mint, so most traditional toothpastes are out. We've tried Tom's of Maine kids flavors to no avail. Recently we got samples of Jack N' Jill natural … [Continue reading]

Talking Green at BlogHer ’12

(Chandra, Carrie & Kristina from Stonyfield, Lori from Groovy Green Livin and me!) I'm a big believer in face time. That might sound ironic considering that I write for a living and spend most of my days alone in my home office. I'm constantly using email and social media to "chat" with my green friends and co-workers and we even … [Continue reading]
