Why I’m Happy to See Acure at Target

Do you mind if I get up on my soap box for a minute? Where I go on about what I think is important in the world? It won’t take long – promise!

As many of you know, I’ve been advocating for safer chemical laws for a many years now. I’ve seen some great strides made – like getting BPA out of baby products, carcinogens out of laundry detergent and recently, toxic flame retardants out of furniture – but there’s still a long way to go.

Sadly, there are still so many toxins in products we use every day – and there’s little meaningful regulation to assure product safety. What concerns me most is that the majority of people in this country have little understanding of the health risks of the products they are buying – because they assume it’s all safe. They don’t necessarily read about it in the newspaper, learn about it on NPR or read a whole slew of green & health related blogs like some of us do (guilty!) Many others, are aware of problem products, but live in rural areas where natural products can be hard to find.

Acure at Target

All that is a long-winded way of saying that I was happy to find Acure personal care products for sale at my local Target store recently. Acure is a better-for-you brand, sold at affordable prices and now it is available to the masses – YAY! All of Acure’s products are formulated with safe, natural and organic ingredients and many are certified USDA organic. I’ve tried and loved a lot of their products already and will be a repeat customer for years to come.

Over many years of being a Target shopper, I’ve been pretty impressed with the company’s commitment to corporate sustainability, responsible sourcing and to getting greener, safer, better products into the hands of their customers. No company is perfect and they certainly sell their fair share of not-so-great products – but I admire the effort and think it’s very important.

Rose + Red Tea Balancing Facial Toner – A quick squirt of this witch hazel and glycerin based formula helps balance out oil and moisture levels in skin. Rooibos red tea and rose water soothe and calm skin. Certified USDA Organic.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner but before you pick up that heart-shaped box of chocolates from the drug store, consider this: Those chocolates most likely contain a bunch of crappy ingredients and were probably produced without care to environmental and social conditions whatsoever. Greener, Safer, Better Stocking Stuffers

Psssst! Did you know Santa sometimes leaves treats for the grownups when he drops by the house? Not necessarily a stocking full, but a little treat or two. Maybe it's only when you've been extra good. I'm really not sure. All I know is that it's happened once or twice at our house over the years. Has this happened at your … [Continue reading]
