The truth behind the clothes we wear can be so depressing. What with sweatshops, resource-greedy fabrics, troubling production methods and such. But fun, affordable, eco-friendly clothing can be so darn hard to find. Seriously – it’s a lot tougher to green your wardrobe than it is your dinner plate.
Stylish Eco Fashion
Don’t you think it’s time for an eco fashion takeover?!!
LNBF (Leave Nothing But Footprints) is a small Toronto, Canada based business designing seriously cute clothes made with eco-friendly fabrics and methods. With a mission to empower women to create a sustainable world for future generations, they create eco-friendly fashions that do not sacrifice on style, comfort or quality.
Bamboo viscose uses less water and fewer chemicals than cotton and synthetics.
- Their bamboo fibre is certified organic under the OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association).
- Organic cotton is blended in some styles.
- Manufactured in China under OEKO-TEX 100 certified mills and using third party audits to ensure safe working conditions and fair wages.
- Mills use a closed-loop process which prevents anything toxic being dumped into the environment.
- Bamboo is anti-bacterial, moisture wicking and hypo-allergenic.
Putting it to the test
I’ve been trying out a few items from LNBF to see how they wash and wear – the Emily Tunic, the Suri Leggings and the Dawn Pyjama Set. All three are primarily bamboo viscose with just a touch of spandex for stretch. The fabric is scrumptiously soft and it’s a perfect weight – not heavy at all but not so light as to feel flimsy.
The tags on all three items say hand wash but after speaking with the company and doing my own test I learned that machine washing is just fine. Line drying is important for best results and durability – although I’ve heard that the occasional trip through the dryer won’t ruin anything.
Here’s your chance to try out LNBF for yourself. I’ve got a $100 gift card to LNBF for one lucky Mindful Momma reader! Just enter using the Rafflecopter form below – quick and easy – with extra entry options available if you are interested. The giveaway will be open though midnight on Sunday, May 31st.
Do you agree it’s time for brands like LNBF to hit the mainstream?
(Yes, I was sent free samples to test out but I’m giving you my true opinion of the brand. Thanks for reading Mindful Momma!)
